SC decision on Marcos burial at LNMB brought more wounds to martial law victims, says militant group

LEGAZPI CITY, Nov. 8 (PNA) —- The Supreme Court (SC) decision favoring the burial of deposed President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) is a dark phase in the country’s history that has brought more wounds to the victims of martial law and their families, said a statement of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan)-Bicol.

“Walang sugat na nahilom, kundi mas lalong sinugatan ang mga pamilya at biktima ng martial law," said the statement written in Filipino and released to media Tuesday afternoon by Vince Casilihan, Bayan Bicol information officer.

Bayan-Bicol said the SC decision has made a mockery of Philippine history by allowing “a thief, murderer and dictator” to be buried at LNMB.

The group added that the high court, which is the last refuge of the martial law victims, did a great injustice to the Filipino people and to the next generation when it favored the Marcos family.

“…ang SC ay pumabor sa pamilya Marcos ay isang kalapastanganan sa buong sambayanang Pilipino at sa mga susunod na henerasyon,” said the statement.

Bayan-Bicol said the SC decision has allowed a “comeback for the family of the dictator and a cleansing of the Marcos name.”

Bayan-Bicol affirmed its stand that “Marcos is not a hero.” (PNA) LAP/GVR/MSA/ssc
