DIMASALANG, Masbate, Oct. 6 (PNA) —- A staff member of a body created by the Masbate provincial government to curb crimes was arrested in Dimasalang, Masbate for possession of illegal drugs and firearms, said a report that reached the Dimasalang Municipal Police Office (MPO) Thursday.
Senior Insp. Aldrin Rosales, officer-in-charge of Dimasalang MPO, said Agapito Perez, a staff of the Provincial Operation for Socio-Economic Development and Against Crimes or POSDAC, was arrested at dawn on October 5 in his house in Barangay Gaid, Dimasalang.
Rosales said the lawmen seized two plastic sachets of "shabu" (methamphetamine hydrochloride), drug paraphernalia, a .45-caliber and hand grenade from Perez, alias "Pito", 34.
Among those who arrested Perez were police from the Regional Intelligence Division-Masbate Provincial Police Safety Company, Regional Public Safety Battalion, Masbate Provincial Police Office and Dimasalang MPO.
They issued a search warrant from Judge Teofilo B. Tambago of Regional Trial Court Branch 46 in Masbate City.
Perez will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms Law. (PNA) LAP/GVR/NBT/CBD
