By Jorge Hallare

LEGAZPI CITY, Aug. 3 (PNA) -- A drug suspect ranked number two in the drug watchlist of the Iriga City Police Office (ICPO) died after allegedly shooting it out with lawmen during a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Roque, Iriga City Tuesday morning.

Supt. Alex Pederio, police chief of ICPO, said operatives were conducting a buy-bust operation when the suspect, Nicholas Morallo a.k.a "Asyong" of San Antonio Subdivision, Barangay San Roque, sensed the poseur buyer was a policeman.

“Morallo resisted arrest and drew his firearm tucked in his front waist, prompting the policemen to shoot him,” said Pederio.

Morallo was brought to the Lourdes Hospital in the city for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Pederio said police recovered eight plastic sachets of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), the marked money used in the buy-bust, .45-caliber pistol, drug paraphernalia and a motorbike.

Pederio said Morallo was the 20th drug suspect killed in the Bicol Region since the Police Regional Office (PRO5) launched its war against drugs on July 1 after the inauguration of President Rodrigo Duterte.(PNA) LAP/GVR/JH/CBD
