LEGAZPI CITY, July 13 (PNA)-- Police said one person was killed and eight others were injured in a five-vehicle smash-up Wednesday morning along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Salvacion, Daraga, Albay.
Investigation showed an unidentified driver of a Mitsubishi van (EVR-143) lost control of the vehicle while negotiating Zone 1, Barangay Salvacion and collided with a motorcycle before hitting a passenger jeepney and sideswiping a tanker and a passenger van—all bound for Daraga town-- at 7:30 a.m., said Senior Police Officer 3 Vicente Naira, police investigator.
He said the motorcycle driver, Marvin Dado, 48, died while being brought to the Bicol Regional Teaching and Training Hospital here.
Naira said eight other persons, who were passengers of the vehicles involved in the road mishap, were brought to the same hospital after suffering injuries.
He however said the Mitsubishi van driver fled and is now subject of pursuit operations. (PNA) BNB/GVR/MSA/CBD
