LEGAZPI CITY, June 2 (PNA) -- The Sangguniang Panlunsod of Legazpi has unanimously approved a resolution giving recognition to the regional director of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD)- Bicol and his personnel.
The resolution, sponsored by Joseph L. Lee, chairman of the SPL committee on disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) and League of Barangays president, recognizes the great contribution of Director Raffy Alejandro in the field of DRRM and climate change adaptation.
Lee said that owing to the exemplary performance of Alejandro, Albay has not only achieved its zero-casualty goal but has also received several national awards in relation to good DRRM and CCA.
These awards include Gawad Kalasag Award, wherein Legazpi City is a Hall of Famer in terms of DRRM, which award was conferred during the 17th Annual Gawad Kalasag Awards of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the OCD on May 2.
The Province of Albay was also a Hall of Famer and so with Sto. Domingo town, Barangay Oro Site in Legazpi City headed by Lee and two civic organizations in the province.
Lee said these are just some of the notable achievements of Alejandro for the region in terms of guidance -- six Gawad Kalasag Awards for Albay.
Aside from these are the various forms of humanitarian assistance given by Team Albay led by Alejandro to other provinces hit by calamities.
This includes the 15 humanitarian missions of Team Albay and 24 countryside caravans in the entire country.
Lee said he has already talked with Alejandro and that the director is profuse with gratitude to his men at the OCD Bicol and the persons behind the recognition being given to him. (PNA) BNB/FGS/NIM/CBD
