LEGAZPI CITY, June 20 (PNA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Bicol will release the updated database of the households in the Bicol Region that are considered poor on Wednesday at the Hotel St. Ellis here.
The new database was the result of the household assessment conducted by the Listahanan in 2015, covering all the rural and urban areas in the six provinces’ 107 municipalities, seven cities and 3,471 barangays across the region.
Listahanan, formerly known as the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR), is an information management system that identifies who the poor Bicolanos are and where they are located.
The database will provide the different social protection stakeholders’ information that could serve as relevant basis in identifying the right beneficiaries.
DSWD Bicol Director Arnel Garcia said the highlight of the event is the presentation of the latest profile of poor households in the Bicol Region.
“A presentation on the innovations applied in the 2015 Listahanan assessment will also be done as well as the methodology and models used in identifying the poor,” Garcia said.
Meanwhile DSWD’s Assistant Secretary and Director of Information Management Bureau Noel M. Macalalad will be the guest speaker of the database release.
The launching is expected to be participated in by different local government units, government agencies, non-government organizations, academe and the media. (PNA) LAP/FGS/SMT/CBD/SSC
