Cristobal leads opening of 3-day DTI service caravan in Albay

LEGAZPI CITY, June 23 (PNA) -- Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Adrian Cristobal led the opening on Thursday of the three-day service caravan of the agency at the Albay Astrodome.

With him were Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya and all bureau directors of the department.

Governor Joey Sarte Salceda and other local officials welcomed the DTI officials.

DTI Bicol Regional Director Joy Blanco said the DTI has chosen Albay as it is the regional center of Bicol.

Aside from this, interested persons can see one of the six fabrication laboratories given by DTI to six regions of the country and it is located in the College of Industrial Technology of the Bicol University.

Blanco said the packaging center of Albay in the Agro Ethno Eco Village found Camalig town is also a recipient of the program of the department.

Dindo G. Nabol, DTI-Albay Business Development Division chief, said the fabrication laboratory in the Bicol University came from the Massachussets Institute of Technology.

Nabol said all ideas in the field of business can be produced by the machine and its product is a prototype.

He said the three-day occasion, from Thursday to Saturday, is full of activities like Bicol trade fair, display of the services of different DTI agencies like training and seminar-workshop for different businesses and livelihood projects.

The are 32 participants in the trade fair -- 19 SMEs in the region, especially in Albay and 13 standard exhibitors.

The DTI will open a "negosyo center" on Friday while the training on e-commerce will be done on Saturday wherein topics that will be tackled are online transaction, selling and buying, and safety nets.

Salceda said the service caravan of the DTI is like the TACDEC or Team Albay Countryside Development Caravan. (PNA) LAP/FGS/NIM/CBD/RSM
