LEGAZPI CITY, June 25 (PNA) -- Joint operatives of the Jose Panganiban Municipal Police Station and Camarines Norte Provincial Anti-Crime Task Force arrested 20 fishermen they caught in the act of fishing using the illegal method called "buli-buli" or using fine mesh net in the waters off the town at 5 a.m. Thursday, a police report said Saturday.
During their routinary seaborne patrol, the police apprehended suspects Rosalito Palacio, Nelson Reota, Garben Arbe, Bernardo Balado, Joel Marbella, Nardo Callion, Sherwin Buino, Alvin Palacion, Jerry Jeres, Olbido Monforte, Salvador Monforte, Arnel Carandang, Ronaldo Banogbanog, Eduardo Ablaneda, Rodney Tarroy, Sonny Portugal, Willy Mena, Benjie Basares, Eduardo Monforte and Jolly Arbie -- all residents of Barangay San Lorenzo and Sta Elena towns in Camarines Norte.
Confiscated from the suspects were a motorized banca, fine mesh net, 25 kilos of various fish species and other fishing paraphernalia.
The Provincial Anti-Crime Task Force immediately filed charges against the suspects for violation of Republic Act 10654.(PNA) PGL/FGS/JH/CBD/pj
