Boom truck driver electrocuted while bringing down concrete post

LEGAZPI CITY, June 23 (PNA) -- A boom truck driver suddenly shook and dropped dead in front of the steering when he got electrocuted while the vehicle was lowering a concrete post that hit a live wire at BarangayTabon-Tabon, Daraga, Albay at about 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, a police report said Thursday.

The report of the Daraga Municipal Police Station identified the victim as Marlon Mercader, 33, a resident of Barangay Malabog, Daraga, Albay, and a worker of the Hi-Tone Construction Co. of Barangay Bogtong, Legazpi City.

The report said that while the boom truck being operated by Mercader was lowering the concrete post, its steel cable rope got entangled with a live wire of the Albay Power and Energy Corp., electrocuting him.

Mercader died as a result of the high voltage that entered his body.

Truck helper Martin Benosa, 23, of Barangay Salvacion, Daraga tried to save Mecader but he was also electrocuted.

Fortunately, Benosa was able to save himself by releasing the hands of the victim. (PNA) RMA/FGS/JH/CBD/RSM
