Noemi Bron, health and education and Promotion Officer III of the Department of Health-Bicol, said that based on the record from May 29 to date, there have been 678 cases recorded in the region.

Region 4A chalked up the most number of dengue cases at 6,867.

Among the Bicol provinces, Camarines Sur listed 283 cases; Albay, 157; Masbate, 102; Sorsogon, 65; Camarines Norte, 48 and Catanduanes, 22.

One individual from Bukidnon acquired dengue in Sorsogon.

Bron attributed the low incidence of dengue in Bicol to the strong campaign of DOH-Bicol against dengue and the cooperation of the community.

She said that included in the enhanced action of the agency is the integrated dengue vector control program through the cooperation of other departments like the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Education, Department of Interior and Local Government and others.

The DOH-Bicol also conducted an information drive that included forum and training simultaneous with announcements over the radio. (PNA) LAP/FGS/NIM/CBD
