Bicol cops net 7 for shabu

LEGAZPI CITY, June 6 (PNA) -- Different police stations of Philippine National Police Regional Office 5 arrested seven persons for involvement in illegal drugs over the weekend.

Taken in were Richard B. Capuz, Ronie V. Abunda, Corazon B. Gonzales, Alan N. Alanis, Coplan A. Bo, Nestor B. Millena and Bisonia Canicula.

Capuz was caught in his residence at Purok 3, Barangay Pawa, Malinao, Albay, at about 11 a.m. Saturday by personnel of the Malinao Municipal Police Station led by Senior Insp. Dante S. Rosal who implemented a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Alben C. Rabe of Regional Trial Court Branch 15, Tabaco City.

The police found one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected as shabu, one folded paper containing suspected dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops, one pack of empty 2x3 transparent plastic and one orange disposable lighter.

Members of the Legazpi City Police Station and the Provincial Intelligence Bureau of the Albay Police Provincial Office led by Insp. Randy Bachiller collared Abunda, a barangay councilor, and Corazon Gonzales at Purok 2, Barangay 24, Rizal, Legazpi City, at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday.

The raiding law enforcers confiscated from the two five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, one PHP500 bill with serial number AX 625909, one PHP5 coin and one unit black Cherry Mobile cellular phone.

Earlier on Friday, police led by PO3 Robert I. Agaton handcuffed Alanis at Amatista St., Barangay San Nicolas, Iriga City, after serving Search Warrant No. IR-2016-75 for violation of RA 9165 and SW No. IR-2016-76 for violation of RA 10591 issued by Timoteo A. Panga, executive judge of RTC Branch 60, Iriga City.

Combined operatives of of the PIB-APPO led by Supt. Ruben D. Padua captured Bo, Millena and Canicula – all of Malilipot, Albay – in a buy-bust at Purok 2, Barangay Matagbac, Tabaco City.

Padua’s group confiscated drugs and drug paraphernalia from the suspects.

The police filed a case for violation of Section 5, Article II of RA 9165 against the three suspects, and a separate case against Bo for violation of Section 11 of RA 9165 before City Prosecution Office, Tabaco City.

Subsequently, cases were filed before the Office of the Clerk of Court, RTC, Tabaco City against the suspects for violation of Section 5, Article II of RA 9165, with no recommended bail; and a criminal case for violation of Section 11, Art. 11 of RA 9165 with a bail of PHP200,000.
