Albay town finishes vote canvassing; winners set to be proclaimed

CAMALIG, Albay, May 10 (PNA) -- The 37,655 registered voters of the town of Camalig, known for the dish "pinangat", have decided who will be their leaders for the next three years.

Ding Baldo led the mayoral race, with 18,308 votes, while the vice mayoral seat was won by Caloy Baldo, with 20,629.

The winners will be proclaimed at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Despite Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's leading the presidential race, the Camalignon set their hearts for Grace Poe, who gained her 14,018 votes against Duterte's 3,693.

The Camalignon gave their fellow Bicolano Leni Robredo the lead for the vice presidency with 19,466 votes.

The certificate of canvass was forwarded to the provincial board of canvassers on Tuesday noon. (PNA) LAP/FGS/OJT/CBD
