LEGAZPI CITY, May 13 (PNA) -- It was a rare occasion that the political bigwigs in Albay gathered, shook hands and greeted each other in a chance meeting during their proclamation as winners in different posts at past 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall.
The proclamation was done by lawyer Alberto Canares III, Commission on Elections (Comelec) acting head in Albay and chairman of the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC), and members Dr. Bibiano Sentillas, division superintendent of the Department of Education-Albay, and Mario Aguilar, Commission on Audit-Albay head.
The political titans were Albay Governor Joey Sarte Salceda and incumbent congressmen Al Francis Bichara of the Second District and Fernando Gonzalez of the Third District.
Also around were Vice Governor Harold Imperial and the winning board members representing the three congressional districts of the province.
During the occasion, the PBOC also proclaimed former congressman Edcel Lagman of the First District, represented by lawyer Ian Macasinag.
After Lagman's proclamation, next to be declared in order were Salceda as congressman-elect of the Second District; Gonzalez, reelected congressman, Third District; Bichara, governor-elect; and Imperial, vice governor-elect.
Proclaimed winning board members were: First District - Reynaldo B. Bragais, Victor V. Ziga Jr. and Job B. Belen; Second District -- Richard Benjamin C, Imperial, Raul E. Rosal and Ralph A. Andes; and Third District -- Jesus S. Salceda Jr., Dante R. Arandia, Howard Sim O. Imperial and Eva Josephine L. Ribaya. (PNA) LAP/FGS/JH/cbd
