1 dies, 7 hurt Camarines Sur road mishap

LEGAZPI CITY, May 2 (PNA) – A 29-year-old man died while his seven co-passengers, including a one-a-half-year-old baby, were injured when an Isuzu trailer truck bumped the jitney they were riding at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Zone 7, Barangay Bonifacio, San Fernando, Camarines Sur.

A police report said Monday that Gregorio Orcales was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at the Bicol Medical Center.

Being treated at the BMC for various injuries are Esteban L. Tiava Jr, 30; Rosa Claveria, of legal age; Christine Briones, 17; Consejo Deborde-Bandin, 52; Jason P. Colindon, 29; Emily Eco, 35; and baby Prince Kenneth Tiava -- all residents of Barangay Beberon, San Fernando, Camarines Sur.

Driver Allan Perez, a resident of Barangay Sagrada, Baao, Camarines Sur, voluntarily surrendered to Naga City Police Station and now in the custody of San Fernando Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Police said the passenger jitney (EVR 831), driven by Roger C. Regidor, was en route from Naga City to Tagpocol, San Fernando, Camarines Sur when hit by an Isuzu trailer truck bearing tractor plate no. UUP 423/trailer plate no. PUJ 881.

As a result, the jitney lost its control and smashed into the road gutter. (PNA) RMA/FGS/JH/cbd
