Legazpi City celebrates Earth Day with coastal clean-up, other activities

LEGAZPI CITY, April 25 (PNA) -- The Provincial Government of Albay, in partnership with Team Albay Youth Organizations (TAYO), held a whole-day celebration of the Earth Day on Saturday with the theme "Promoting Sustainable Behavior through Environmental Messaging".

The activities involved a coastal clean-up as the first event which started at 6 a.m. in Barangay Puro, Legazpi City and participated in by youth volunteers and the pioneer youth ambassadors and ambassadresses.

In the afternoon, there was a mural painting at the Governor's Mansion, joined by by young artists and volunteers.

"It is an instant advocate and an interaction. It is also a great way to celebrate with purpose. The mural wants to inform the youth how science contributes a lot in climate change," said A. G. Sano, a DAKILA artist.
