Cops charge 6 men for illegal mining in Camarines Norte town

LEGAZPI CITY, April 4 (PNA) -- The police on Monday filed criminal complaints for illegal mining against six persons in violation of RA 7942 through inquest proceedings.

Charged were Alexis B. Lapso, Antonio G. Furuc Jr., Benedicto C. Padua, Renato O. Dimas, Rodito A. Moca and Almario J. EspaƱol, with PHP200,000 bail recommended signed by Roselle L. Asis-Napoles, associate provincial prosecutor, duty inquest prosecutor of the Camarines Norte Provincial Prosecution Office.

Joint elements of the Paracale Municipal Police Station, Criminal Investigation and Detection Team-Camarines Norte and the Regional Intelligence Division-5 conducted an anti-illegal mining operation at Sitio Bulaay, Barangay Palanas, Camarines Norte at 1:30 p.m., Thursday that resulted in the arrest of the suspects while actually engaging in illegal mining activity.

The police confiscated from the suspects one cal. 45 pistol XD ACP with one magazine, 11 rounds of cal. 45 ammunition, sacks of mineral ore and assorted units of mining equipment. (PNA) FFC/FGS/JH/CBD/EBP
