LEGAZPI CITY, April 25 (PNA) -- The Provincial Government of Albay (PGA) on Saturday led Albayanos in paying homage to three distinguished local heroes who died during the Philippine Revolution.
The celebration with the theme ‘Ambagan para sa Kapayapaan’ was marked with a wreath laying ceremony for the Albay Heroes of National Liberation.
Remembered and honored during the activity were General Simeon A. Ola, General Ignacio Paua and Camilo Soledad Jacob.
The PGA also gave honor to the Team Albay for showing a heroic deed by being an instrument through timely humanitarian services during the Team Albay Countryside Development Caravan (TACDEC) throughout different municipalities.
"Marami pang ibang bayaning Albayano na nangarap, nanindigan at nakibaka para sa kalayaan ng bansa. Marami ang mga nabulid sa karimlan ng kasaysayan nang hindi nakilala kung sino. Wala silang bantayog, walang tanda ang naging libingan. Ang kanilang bantayog ay nasa isip na lamang ng kanilang mga inulila (There are other Albayanos who dreamed, stood firm and fought for the freedom of the country. More fell in the darkness of history without getting recognized. They don't have statues, no markers on their graves. Their statues are embedded only in the minds of people they left behind)," Governor Joey Salceda said.
The weekend event started with a parade at the Vel-Amor Subdivision here with a lively street dance presentation led by the Magayon Dance Troupe and ended at the Penaranda Park for the program proper.
It was participated by students and personnel from the Department of Agrarian Reform, Philippine National Police, Philippine Navy, Bureau of Fire Protection, Special Weapons and Tactics team, Philippine Air Force, Philippine Coastguard, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and the Team Albay Youth Organizations, provincial officials and employees and civil society organizations.
It also featured regents from BFP for disaster response. (PNA) PGL/FGS/ANNE SUZETTE TORRES-OJT/CBD
