Masbate sea vessel flares up; 47 passengers panic but safe

MASBATE CITY, March 5 (PNA) -- The main engine of the fastcraft bound for Masbate City from Pilar Port in Sorsogon emitted dark smoke, scaring its 47 passengers, on Friday morning, a police report said Saturday.

The passengers and crewmen of the MV Dapitan of the Montenegro Lines, however, were all safe.

The report said the vessel left Pilar Port at about 8 a.m. and was already cruising the three-hour route to Masbate City when its main engine developed trouble.

The boat captain immediately radioed for help from the 502nd Maritime Police based in Pilar Port, which immediately proceeded to the area.

The prompt response of the police unit resulted in zero casualty on the part of the passengers and crewmen, the report said.(PNA) RMA/FGS/NBT/CBD/pjn
