10 PNP-Bicol female cops get medals of merit, commendation

LEGAZPI CITY, March 16 (PNA) -- The Philippine National Police Bicol regional office has given recognition and honors to 10 policewomen in the Bicol Region in observance of March as Women's Month.

Chief Supt. Augusto M. Marquez Jr., PNP Bicol regional director, identified the honorees as Police Senior Insp. Maria Luisa C. Calubaquib, Insp. Jean B. Calleja, PO1 Stacykwen S. Vargas, PO1 Hazel Y. Sorral, PO1 Lucia Cristine V. Biron, PO1 Arletlyn P. Belza, PO3 Marylou E. Pagorogon, PO2 Lourdes A. Bernal, PO1 Glaiza C. Olivares and PO1 Angelica A. Salando.

Calubaquib received the Medalya ng Papuri (Medal of Commendation) for her sterling and exemplary performance as PRO5 spokesperson who has been behind the email blast NTG PRO5 social media account which has 3,000 interactive viewers.

She has been the bridge for the maintenance of rapport or harmonious relationship between the police and the PRO5 Press Corps and has been responsible for the smooth and continuous flow of information to the public.

Calleja was awarded with Medalya ng Papuri (PNP Commendation Medal) for academic excellence which put her in the Top 3 with a rating of 90.53 percent in their class of 58 students in the Officers Basic Course conducted by the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division of Camp General Simeon A. Ola from Nov. 4, 2015 to Feb. 11, 2016.

Aside from the Medalya ng Papuri, she also received a Medalya ng Kagalingan (PNP Merit Medal) together with her team composed of Vargas, Sorral, Biron and Belza -- all of the Catanduanes Police Provincial Office -- for the arrest of Charlie Tagpo, No. 5 in the Municipal Illegal Drugs Watchlisted Personalities in Virac, Catanduanes.

During the anti-illegal drug operation, Calleja's team also confiscated 31 grams of metampethamine hydrocloride, popularly known as shabu, worth PHP155,435 and Tagpo's caliber .22 revolver with ammunition.

The four female police operatives were also responsible for the arrest of Manuel Huit Jr., No. 1 in the provincial drug list, Jun P. Bosar, Michelle G. Diaz, Juenalyn Vargas and Kimberly Z. Panti of Virac and the seizure of 31.513 grams of shabu with a street value of PHP157,565, drug parapharnalia and caliber .38 revolver and ammunition.

Pagorogon and Bernal of the Daraga Municipal Police Station in Albay received the Medalya ng Kagalingan as members of the operating team that collared suspected drug pushers Chona S. Cabria, Ryan C. Nacario, Patrick Jason M. Pasibe and two minors from whom they found 12.1067 grams of shabu with a street value of PHP60,535 and several drug paraphernalia.

Olivares and Salando, both officers of the Ligao City Police Station, received the Medalya ng Kagalingan for their arrest of Arlan A. Sadia, Rolly R. Cas, Jennie Ann P. Hallig and Ma. Claudine R. Grisola; seizure of 0.134 gram of shabu and confiscation of one caliber .38 revolver and ammunition.

Marquez lauded and thanked the awardees for their sterling performance and contribution to the PNP's campaign against illegal drug and loose firearms, which are worthy of admiration and emulation by their in the PNP organization. (PNA) FFC/FGS/JH/CBD/EDS
