PRO5 observes PNP's 25th year

CAMP GEN. SIMEON A. OLA, Legazpi City, Jan. 31 (PNA) -- The Police Regional Office 5 will celebrate the 25th Philippine National Police (PNP) anniversary on Monday, coinciding with its weekly flag-raising ceremony.

Chief Supt. Augusto M. Marquez Jr. said a wreath-laying ceremony will immediately follow at the PRO5 Heroes Shrine, after which there will be a Eucharistic Mass at the PRO5 Chapel.

The invited guest of honor and speaker is the newly installed National Police Commission Regional Director Josephmar Gil.

The simple program will be highlighted by the formal turnover of Medalya ng Kabayanihan (PNP Distinguished Conduct Medal) to the family of the Last Man Standing of the SAF 44, Police Senior Insp. Max Jim R. Tria.

The award was given by President Benigno Aquino III on the occasion of the 25th PNP Day held on Jan. 25 at Camp Crame, Quezon City and subsequently turned over to Marquez.

“Since its establishment in 1991, the PNP has come a long way as a prime member of Department of Interior and Local Government and has been leading in maintaining peace and order in the society," Marquez said.

It has also been a partner in good governance as it ventures in transforming the organization into professionalized cops, the PNP Bicol chief added. (PNA) SCS/FGS/EMC/CBD/SSC
