LEGAZPI CITY, Feb. 4 (PNA) -- The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) family will conduct a whole-day Citizen Journalism Training on Friday at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation, Legazpi City.
More than 300 students from different areas here in Bicol are expected to attend the event.
The training is dubbed as “Bayan ko, Pananagutan ko Citizen Journalism Training, Grassroots-Based Social Communication Network Media ng Bayan Volunteers for Hatol ng Bayan."
PCOO Secretary Hermenio B. Coloma Jr. is the keynote speaker of the training.
Speakers of the activity include Regional Director Erlinda Olivia Tiu of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 4 to explain what citizen journalism is; Alex Rey Pal, officer-in-charge for News Division, to enlighten the participants about PTV4 and how to send video clips; Remigio Sampang, to talk on Barangay Ko, Pananagutan Ko radio segment; station manager Allan Allanigue, to explain about Radyo ng Bayan; Philippines News Agency (PNA) executive editor Luis A. Morente will give the participants a better view of what PNA is.
There will also be a workshop for the participants on their 1st news as Media ng Bayan volunteers.
Election of officers for the Bicol Region Chapter of Barangay Ko, Pananagutan Ko Grassroots-Based Social Communication Network will also be conducted, to be followed by the induction of officers.
Signing of the Manifesto of Commitment will end the training.
The PCOO supervises all major government public communication and mass media organizations, including the PIA, Philippine Broadcast Service, Government Television Network, PNA and National Printing Office. (PNA) FFC/FGS/CBD
