Albay honored as 2015 USD1M CEO top destination awardee

LEGAZPI CITY, Nov. 3 (PNA) -- Gov. Joey Sarte Salceda personally received the 2015 PATA One Million Dollar CEO Challenge Top Destination Award during the PATA Aligned Advocacy Dinner in London on Monday.

UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai was the guest speaker during the occasion, which was also attended by officials of Trip Advisor.

Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) chief executive officer Mario Hardy said the PATA found difficulty in choosing two winners that are worthy of the honors from among the nominations submitted to the PATA from the different parts of the world.

Hardy said each nominee has a very rare story to tell that should be experienced by tourists.

He said the two winners have the most original, rare and modern ideas or technologies that deserve assistance in terms of promotion.

Albay won the Top Destination Award for the Regions/States/Provinces Category while the Thekkady, Kerala, India garnered the Top Destination Award for the Second and Third Tier Cities Category.

Hardy said the two winners will work as PATA CEO Challenge 2015 partners and Trip Advisors to do Digital Marketing Campaigns to show to the whole world their respective places.

Each received an award of USD500,000 to cover the cost of video production.

Aside from the cash grant, the two winners will also receive complimentary pass to attend the PATA Annual Summit 2016 in Guam on May 18-21, free booth at the PATA Travel Mart 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia on Sept. 7-9 next year.

The two winners will also receive a full-blown international brand exposure by famous communications channels of PATA.
