Albay busy with preparations for PATA meet on Nov. 25-27

LEGAZPI CITY, Nov. 22 (PNA) -- The Provincial Government of Albay and other national government agencies based in the Bicol Regional Center in Barangay Rawis here are now in the thick of preparations for the hosting of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) New Tourism Frontiers Forum to be held at The Oriental Hotel on Nov. 25-27.

The international meet will tackle "Eco Tourism, Transcending Climate Change".

The PATA is one of the biggest known organizations of travel and tourism players in the Asia-Pacific Region.

It has been the leading group in the industry for past 60 years and has a strong working relations with the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

In this connection, Office of Civil Defense Bicol Regional Director Raffy Alejandro said the Team Albay is ensuring security and emergency preparedness for the international event.

Included in the team are the Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Health and Provincial Health Office-Albay Health and Emergency Management.

Alejandro said the Oriental Hotel, airport and tourist destinations in the province are well secured.

He said 500 participants have already registered from all over Asia and the Pacific, mostly tour operators from the private sector. (PNA) CTB/FGS/NIM/CBD/SSC
