LEGAZPI CITY, Oct. 17 (PNA) -- Local government units in Albay are now closely monitoring the situation after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised Public Storm Warning Signal No. 1 in the province on Saturday morning.

The PAGASA earlier announced that three provinces in Bicol are under storm signal no. 1.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) of Albay is on alert and closely monitoring the situation and the direction of typhoon "Lando".

Albay Governor Joey Sarte Salceda has ordered the suspension of classes and class activities in all levels in the entire province.

He also ordered the Albayanos not to go on fishing, sailing and crossing of rivers to ensure their safety.

Meanwhile, amidst the weather disturbance, a jailbreak in Tabaco District detention center happened early Saturday morning involving five inmates.

Police has been on a manhunt operation. (PNA) RMA/LOR/FGS/CBD
