PNP-Bicol nabs No. 1 village drug pusher, 5 others for illegal firearms

LEGAZPI CITY, Oct. 4 (PNA) -- Members of the various units of the Philippine National Police in Bicol arrested the No. 1 in the Top 10 illegal drug personalities in Tinambac, Camarines Sur and four others for possession of illegal firearms, a police report said Sunday.

George B. Tuazon was arrested at 3:40 p.m. Thursday in Barangay Salvacion, Poblacion, Tinambac, Camarines Sur for violation of RA 9165 or anti-illegal drugs act and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act) for illegal possession of firearms.

Elements of the Tinambac Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by Police Chief Insp. Paul DM Cabug, assistant chief of police, conducted an anti- drug operation at Zone 4, Salvacion, Poblacion, Tinambac that resulted in the arrest of Tuazon who they caught in the act of repacking shabu.

The law enforcers recovered from Tuazon's possession were drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Confiscated from the suspect’s possession were one chromed caliber .45 pistol with trade mark Caspian, two magazines of caliber .45, 40 live ammunition for caliber .45, two live ammo for Caliber .38, and one white-colored ammo box.

Also seized from Tuazon were 1 large transparent heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, 12 medium transparent heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, 7 small transparent heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a pair of stainless scissors, 2 lighters colored blue and yellow, 2 vapor pipes, 154 empty sachets used for repacking drugs, 1 piece plastic sachet with aluminum foil, 1 plastic box with name Dentamirica with broken parts of vapor pipes,

Cabug’s team made an inventory of the confiscated items at the place of operation in the presence of witnesses from media, Department of Justice and village officials of Salvacion, Poblacion, Tinambac.

Also apprehended on Thursday for illegal possession of firearms were Nicanor A. Briones, Raul B. Estrilla and Raul P. Lumbis.

On Thursday, a team led by Captain Dion Eliot of the Philippine Army assigned at the 9th Infantry Division, Camp Martillana, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur and Pili MPS composed of PO3 Christian Florece, PO3 Rodolfo Rubi Jr., PO2 Celso Bagacina and PO2 Adam Yasser Narag apprehended Briones who was armed with unknown short firearm tucked in his waist.

Recovered from the suspect were cash amounting to Php50,000 believed to be extorted money and a caliber .38 revolver loaded with five live ammunition.

At about 2:30 a.m. the following day in Barangay Buluang, Baao, Camarines Sur, Eliot’s group caught Estrilla and Lumbis, Briones’ companions, during a hot pursuit operation.

Found in the two suspects were two hand grenades.

Also on Friday, Mercedes MPS led by SPO4 Orlando M. Layug handcuffed Zaldy A. Sargento for having in possession one caliber .38 revolver (paltik) without serial number and loaded with five pieces of live ammunition without permit.

Sargento was having a drinking session with his friends when caught by the responding PNP personnel while in the act of inserting to his waist the firearm.

Personnel of Masbate CPS arrested Roel M. Confuesto in Barangay Ibingay, Masbate City for violation of RA 10591 for having in his possession one improvised gun without serial number and markings loaded with one live ammunition for suspected M16 riffle without pertinent documents from a competent authority to possess/carry the same.

Meanwhile, retired police Abner V. Malapitan Jr. turned over a caliber .45 pistol of Nemesio B. Detera after he disarmed him in a brief scuffle on Friday in Barangay Nursery, Masbate City.

Malapitan was outside their house when Detera, who was under the influence of liquor, arrived and, for unknown reason, slapped him twice, hitting his face.

Detera then pulled his firearm from his sling bag and shot the victim but failed to hit him.

The two scuffled and later, Malapitan was able to disarm the suspect and grabbed the firearm.

Detera, however, was able to escape after the incident while the victim reported the incident to Masbate CPS and turned over Detera’s caliber .45 pistol with one magazine inserted and loaded with eight live ammunition and one fired cartridge case.(PNA) CTB/FGS/EMC/CBD/PJN
