2 city mayoral bets file CoCs

LEGAZPI CITY, Oct. 15 (PNA) -- Two Liberal Party (LP) city mayoral candidates filed their Certificates of Candidacy (CoCs) in their respective Commission on Elections (Comelec) offices in the cities of Tabaco and Legazpi on Thursday.

Krisel Lagman-Luistro, former Tabaco City mayor for two terms, filed her CoC for the city mayoral position at around 8 a.m. Thursday.

Lagman-Luistro, who is running under the Liberal Party, and her complete slate of candidates for city councilors submitted their respective CoCs to lawyer Niel Canicula, Comelec Tabaco City election officer, as hundreds of supporters in yellow shirts witnessed the significant event.

The crowd of supporters created a slight traffic jam at the city's main street.

Lagman-Luistro is the daughter of former representative Edcel C. Lagman (LP) who is seeking to reclaim the seat held by his son Albay Rep. Edcel Grex Lagman Jr., who gave way to the request of the elder Lagman to serve his constituents again.

As this developed, incumbent Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal, also of the LP, incumbent Vice Mayor Vitorio C. Roces and their 10-man candidates for city councilors filed their CoCs to lawyer Jasmin Cecilia Bilarmino, Comelec Legazpi City election officer.

Rosal is running for reelection and on his second term.

He has held the mayoral post for 12 years while his wife Geraldine was also elected mayor for only one term.

Before going to the Comelec city office, Rosal and his entourage, in yellow shirts, attended a Mass at the Saint Raphael the Archangel Parish church.

The group then had a motorcade which exhibited the image of the city’s patron saint and included some 20 vehicles that motored around the city's major streets. (PNA) FPV/FGS/MSA/CBD
