LEGAZPI CITY, Sept. 6 (PNA) -- Elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency PDEA Albay Provincial Office arrested an alleged big-time drug trafficker in Barangay Basud, Polangui, Albay early this week, a PDEA report released on Sunday said.
Director III Bryan B. Babang, PDEA Bicol regional director, identified the suspect as Venerando Salcedo, 43, a resident of the village.
Salcedo is believed to be a pipeline for drug supply in the towns of Libon, Albay and Iriga City, Bato and other towns in Camarines Sur.
PDEA operatives had earlier received tips regarding the illegal drug activities of the suspect, prompting them to conduct surveillance and set the buy-bust operation.
At about 1:34 p.m. last Wednesday, the PDEA men conducted the buy-bust operation in the suspect’s residence at Chua’s Apartment, Purok Manzanilla, Barangay Basud.
This led to the arrest of Salcedo and the seizure of 34 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine hydrocloride or shabu with a total estimated weight of about 250 grams and with a street value of Php1.2 million.
Salcedo is now at the PDEA Custodial Facility while a case for violation of Section 5 (Sale) of Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, has been filed against him. (PNA) CTB/FGS/EMC/CBD/PJN
