Cops seize 2 loose guns, accept surrender of 1

CAMP GEN. SIMEON A. OLA, Sept. 5 (PNA) -- Separate units of the Philippine National Police in Bicol confiscated two loose firearms and accepted one surrendered gun on separate occasions the past two days.

In Barangay Kalipay, Masbate City, elements of the Masbate City Police Office, led by PO2 Michael M Rodriguez, on Thursday arrested Razel A. Samson, 18, laborer and a resident of Barangay Espinosa in the same city.

Samson had in his possession a homemade shotgun, locally known as sumpak, and one live ammunition inserted on its chamber without pertinent documents from a competent authority to possess it.

He was brought to Masbate CPO for documentation while the confiscated pieces of evidence will be submitted to the PNP Crime Laboratory Office in Camp Bonny Serrano, Masbate City for ballistic examination.

Samson is now under detention and appropriate case is now being prepared for filing before the Masbate City Prosecutor’s Office in Masbate City.

In Albay, Camalig Municipal Police Station operatives arrested Harbel M. Manrique, a security guard and a resident of Barangay Quirangay, Camalig for possession of a cal .38 revolver with TM Armscor 2015 SPL and Serial No. 56091, loaded with five live ammunition.

The MCPS has filed a case against Manrique for violation of Section 28, paragraph (a) of RA 10591 or “Illegal possession of firearm and ammunition” before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Albay in Rawis, Legazpi City, duly signed by Associate Prosecutor II Shella L. Abellano, docketed under NPS No. V-08-INV-15I-00150.

On Friday, businessman Anthony A. Era, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay 7, Mercedes, Camarines Norte, accompanied by Shiena R. Basco, an official of Barangay 7, personally appeared and subsequently surrendered one cal. 38 revolver (snub-nosed), trademark SAM SHOOTERS with serial number K5960101 and six live ammunition to PO3 Erwin A. San Ramon, operations officer of the Mercedes MPS.

The turnover of the firearm was a result of the relentless campaign of the Camarines Norte Provincial Police Office against loose firearms, intensified intelligence/information and enhanced police community relations, San Ramon said. (PNA) RMA/FGS/EMC/CBD/ssc
