TICAO ISLAND, Masbate, Sept. 20 (PNA) -- All the 13 passengers and crew members of the M/V Gloria 10 that capsized between the coast of Barangay Togoron, Monreal, and Barngay Guianon, San Jacinto in Masbate, have been rescued, were accounted for and safe, the Masbate Provincial Police Office said Friday afternoon.

According to PO3 Zandro Rivera Cabintoy, MPPO public information officer, the passenger vessel left Masbate City for Pilar, Sorsogon at around 8:00 a.m. on Thursday.

One of the passengers told police that while they were halfway to Pilar town at around 11:00 a.m., huge waves suddenly struck, which made the vessel overturn slowly.

Fortunately, he said, some fishermen were in the area and rushed to rescue the victims.

Cabintoy said members of the Monreal Municipal Police Office, Monreal Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Philippine Coast Guard, upon receipt of an emergency call, initiated an immediate rescue operation at the site.
