LEGAZPI CITY, Mar 12 (PNA)--Albay Governor Joey Salceda is among the nominated experts invited to attend the climate change adaptation conference in Bonn, Germany on April 1-4.
Convened by the United Nations’ Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC), the gathering will be a joint meeting of the Adaptation Committee (AC) and the Nairobi Work Program (NWP) on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change, AC chair Margaret Mukahanana-Sangarwe told Salceda in a recent letter.
The objective of the NWP is for all parties, developing countries in particular, including the least developed countries (LDCs) and small island developing states (SIDS) to improve their understanding and assessment of impacts, vulnerability and adaptation, and to make informed decision on practical actions and measures to respond to climate change.
Discussions on the meeting, Sangarwe said, will focus on, among others, good practices, trends and limitations of available tools, practices and approaches; and the documentation, evaluation and dissemination of relevant information on them.
This will be an important meeting that he will be attending in behalf of the Philippines and of the developing countries that he represents as co-chair of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) board, Salceda, who was earlier named by the United Nations as a global climate change adaptation champion, said here on Wednesday.
