CamNorte town announces search for outstanding homegrown women

DAET, Camarines Norte, Jan. 20 (PNA) – The municipal government here is now accepting nominations to its search for 10 homegrown women who last year excelled in their respective fields of endeavor.

They should be nominated according to their professional fields like journalism and public information, education, sports, arts and culture, law and judiciary, protective services and security, religion, medical, science and mathematics, entrepreneurship, volunteerism and social services, philanthropic engagement and government service, among others.

Any Daeteña of legal age, living and practicing her profession-related works in the locality may be nominated, municipal Mayor Tito Sarion on Monday here told the PNA. Nomination forms are available at the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and the deadline for the submission is set on Jan. 31

Nominees are preferably those who are involved in local organizations with advocacies related to their respective lines of work or professions or women who have significant accomplishments in their fields of endeavor that contributed to the welfare and uplift of status of women, in particular, and in the promotion of gender fair society, in general, Sarion said.

Those who will be chosen based on the judging criteria set by the search committee headed by the MSWDO will be proclaimed as the 2013 Ten Most Outstanding Women of Daet.

The criteria for judging are leadership or the ability to lead, inspire and enable others to fulfill their goals, 20 percent; commitment or the length of stay in an organization, dedication and sustainability of the advocacy, 20 percent; women empowerment or the remarkable accomplishment that has major impacts towards a gender fair society, 30 percent; and community and civic Involvement shown by remarkable accomplishments with major impacts on Daeteños, 30 percent.

Winners will be honored and given awards in line with the town’s celebration of the 2014 National Women’s Month in March themed “Kababaihan: Gabay sa Pagtahak sa Tuwid na Daan,” Sarion added. (PNA) CTB/FGS/DOC/CBD
