LEGAZPI CITY, Dec. 28 (PNA) -- Albay Governor Joey Sarte Salceda has issued an executive order aimed at achieving zero casualty in welcoming the year 2014 in the province of Albay as part of its Green Christmas program which is on its fourth year.
Salceda said any job order or contractual employee who will be caught lighting firecrackers on New Year’s eve will be terminated from service while any permanent employee found doing so will receive a memo in his 201 File.
Likewise, any barangay official -- including committee head, volunteer security officer, secretary and treasurer within the area of responsibility of the province -- who will do the same act will be reprimanded, he added.
The governor said he will give a reward to anybody who could give a video or photograph, even unaccompanied by audio tape recording, of any of the aforementioned public servant committing the offense will receive P1,000.
His identity will also be kept confidential. “This is not a joke,” Salceda said, adding “zero casualty is a provincial goal.”
For the past three years, Salceda, also the Green Climate Fund co-chairman, has been campaigning for a green Christmas wherein nobody in Albay must be injured in welcoming the New Year.(PNA) CTB/FGS/EMC/CBD/PJN
